Vignette Takes Wraps Off New Content-Management System
Vignette's V7 content-management applications include both out-of-the-box capabilities as well as configurable options to help companies both get a quick start as well tailor the system to their own workflow, the vendor said. V7 comes in several variations. Group Suite 7 is for a department that needs help managing a single Web site or portal. It includes predefined workflows, content types, and the Vignette Command Center. Also on tap are multi-site management capabilities, as well as a graphical workflow modeler, and add-on tools for content integration, personalization and content reporting. Business Suite 7 can handle multiple mission-critical sites or portals and is designed for large enterprise use. It includes all the capabilities of the Group Suite, plus additional features such as graphical workflow creation and an integration workbench for deeper integration requirements. Enterprise Suite 7 takes the platform up yet another level, with tools to unify content-management processes across an entire enterprise. It adds capabilities such as advanced reporting, integration adapters, and software-development kits for customizing the applications. Group Suite 7 and Business Suite 7 will be available by year's end. Enterprise Suite will ship the first half of 2003. Pricing is still to be determined.
