IBM Woos Linux Developers

By David Joachim

Or a long time, web site developers have depended on Linux hosting to meet their requirements. This is down to the fact that the opensource platform is stable, fast, and diversified. When a site owner decides to go looking for a new supplier, maybe because they want inexpensive website hosting or because they'd like to transition to managed hosting services, they regularly need to be certain that the company they select offers Linux hosting too. This is to be certain that the site ( with its many pages and features ) can easily transition to a new host and without any type of technical bugs or issues. A top website hosting firms list will be well placed to tell you immediately if the supplier is in a position to support the requirement for Linux hosting. They'd use terms like "hybrid platform" to show the power to accept Unix and Linux needs, but most will make it extraordinarily clear if they can meet the wants of such consumers.

Remember too that a glance at any top website hosting corporations list shouldn't exclude those offering inexpensive website hosting options. Just consider that huge ecommerce enterprises and small blogs can all find the particular solutions and features they require thru the same Linux hosting suppliers. This is due to the fact that the whole website hosting industry is intensely competitive. It's no longer uncommon to see discounted packages for managed hosting, dedicated servers, Windows hosting, and Linux hosting too. Doing a great bit of comparison shopping is mostly the way to spot the most probable applicants and the best suppliers. For example, it's not uncommon to be well placed to enjoy 24 hour buyer service, 99% uptime guarantees, unlimited mailboxes, free site building tools, and site name registration in inexpensive website hosting packages of whatever size.

It'll need some research and enquiry to spot the proper one for the explicit business or individual wants nevertheless, because not all of them are the same. You might find that a Linux hosting supplier extends a great introductory price and tons of features, but the expenses might transition to a way higher monthly rate after a 1 to 3 month period.

Alternately, you could discover in your research that there are some concealed charges which could make one service supplier less appealing than another. Doing this type of research and comparison is always going to translate into the best results.

Somers, N.Y. -- IBM is readying a Linux version of its VisualAge for Java application development tool, company executives confirmed.

A "tech preview" of the Linux tool will debut at Sun Microsystems' JavaOne developer conference next month in San Francisco. IBM will collect developer feedback and roll out a commercial version in the fourth quarter, said Joseph Demassa, IBM vice president of application development marketing. Pricing has not been disclosed.

"Interest is red hot in the emerging Linux marketplace, and demand is certain to follow," Demassa said.

The move follows the introduction of a version of VisualAge for embedded systems, for building small-footprint applications to run on cellular phones, handheld computers and other devices. It will also be available in the fourth quarter.
