Tumbleweed Upgrades Messaging Security App
Secure Guardian 5.5 resides between e-mail servers and a firewall, and it can securely deliver a message through a variety of methods. The product introduces the Tumbleweed Secure Envelope delivery method, which delivers a Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) message with an HTML attachment that contains the encrypted message contents. It delivers a message directly to an inbox without requiring any client-side decryption software. For customers looking to leverage their investment in public key infrastructure security software, Secure Guardian 5.5 can perform real-time recipient certificate lookup from enterprise directors. This enforces the encryption of messages using industry-standard S/MIME when S/MIME certificates are supported by the server. Tumbleweed also said the product's content scanning engine has been enhanced for better spam prevention and intellectual property protection. Policies can be used to scan the content inside HTML tags as well as binary content that may contain text elements. The software runs on Windows 2000 and Sun Solaris. CPU-based pricing ranges from $10,000 to $60,000.
