Kenamea's Web Messaging Platform 1.3 routes business data between any end user application and any back end system, regardless of device, platform, or network. While Kenamea is often lumped with emerging Web services vendors—it made today's announcement at a Web services trade show—the messaging platform shows that the company has more on its mind than just moving about SOAP messages. The new release features integration with other message-queuing technologies, including TIBCO/Talarian, IBM WebSphere MQ, Sonic Software's SonicMQ, and BEA WebLogic Integration. The WebSphere support is especially deep, allowing companies to extend the functionality of IBM WebSphere beyond the firewall and out to public Internet users. Other new capabilities include system integration with Web pages via a new JavaScript Connector; broader support for handheld devices including Pocket PC; support for Microsoft client technologies including COM, Visual Basic, and Office clients; and support for sending and receiving SOAP-based messages. The new release also features a new security framework for integrating with enterprise security systems, as well as the ability to run on both Windows and Solaris operating systems. Kenamea also gave a heads-up for its version 2.0 release, due this fall, which will add HTTP message delivery; extended mobile support including Palm OS and RIM Blackberry; and improved redundancy and fail-over capabilities. It will also boost support for Web services protocols, including support for asynchronous message queuing for any Web services protocols such as SOAP, WSDL, and HTTP.
