Open-Source SQL Database Gains .Net Interfaces

MySQL AB, the Swedish developer of the open-source MySQL database, said Wednesday it now supports Microsoft .Net through several optional interfaces, meaning developers can use the popular Microsoft tools to build client/server applications for the database.

MySQL AB officials said several .Net interfaces have emerged from the MySQL user/developer community and they're now being supported in the database.

Among the drivers being offered are a MyODBC Driver based on the Open Database Connectivity standard, "ADO.NET" interfaces that function just like Microsoft SqlClient and OledbClient, as well as an OLEDB.Net interface. For more information, developers can visit www.mysql.com/articles/dotnet/ (.)
